Main Show Ring
Watch this space for the forthcoming main attractions for 2017!
The entertaining K9 Quackers sheepdog and duck herding display is a favourite of audiences of all ages. Watch how Richard and his sheepdog sidekicks herd the ducks through a variety of obstacles such as the tunnel of doom, the slippery slide and the rings of fire.
The audience is encouraged to participate throughout the demonstration and children are encouraged to come into the ring to help out during the displays.
This year we’ll be setting up a number of activities which will be aimed at providing fun for all family members. As well as the traditional races such as the egg and spoon and three legged races, we will be asking for volunteers to try out for the Hobby Horse Gymkhana. This new craze at national show jumping competitions is sweeping Scandinavia.
We will be inviting parents and grandparents to join the fun and games with welly wanging and other suitably daft competitions!
We are always keen to showcase local bands and artists at the Chorley Show and 2017 will be no exception.
With its roots in the rolling South Shropshire hills, Whalebone’s music is infused with the landscape and the lives that inhabit it. “Elemental force… expressively beautiful…” Folkwords. Taking its cue from the Celtic Folk music of the British Isles, interwoven with strands of rock, Americana and Eastern European tradition, the trio’s music is impossible to classify. Music that does not fit into a comfortable box, eclecticism defined, a unique and vibrant mix. “..delightfully and defiantly guilty of trespass across musical borders…” Instrumentali Musicali. Everything But The Band
This is a duo from Worcester making their first appearance at the Show. Local musician and guitar teacher Mark Checkley, joins forces with singer Dave Trow to bring you Everything But The Band, playing a non stop set of classic hits from the last 6 decades guaranteed to get you dancing and singing all afternoon. (Watch out for a surprise guest appearance too!). Visit http://everythingbuttheband.webstarts.com/index.html and https://www.facebook.com/everythingbuttheband/
Also new to the Show this year is Joshua Sole. “During Sole’s best moments – the rasping blues, the acerbic R’n’B, the rap and deep root acoustic undertones – Sole sounds tremendous: a multitasking modern artist who can do it all – strum, rap and sing!” ShropzRocks Magazine. Severn Edge Dog Show
Our Dog Show is always popular and the competition in the various categories is taken very seriously – the dogs are always beautifully turned out. Come along and see whether your selections for the winners match those of the judges! Once again we are grateful to Severn Edge Veterinary Group for doing the judging. See the Join In page for more details.
Once again, we are planning to have a good number of stalls on the showground with a variety of items for sale to satisfy those retail therapy needs! Local and international handicrafts, jewellery, cards, locally-produced food & drink are just some of the things we intend to offer. In addition, there will be stalls with exhibitions of traditional crafts and from organisations dedicated to our local wildlife.
Have a look at our Exhibitors page if you’d like a stall.
Food and Drink
Local suppliers are providing the meats, bread and dairy produce used in the refreshment and BBQ tent. The meat for the BBQ is being provided by Bridgnorth’s Keith Alderson Family Butchers. The beers are from local brewery Hobsons in Cleobury Mortimer. We have also got their cider too – so make sure you try some before it all runs out…. it is very good 🙂 Delicious homemade cakes and sandwiches are being made by the best local bakers and will be available from the refreshment tent.
