Falconry Centre – Hagley
The Falconry Centre has attended Chorley Show many times over the years, and we are pleased to welcome them back to this year’s show. The flying displays are always popular, so please come along to watch and join in if you dare! The birds are very used to people and are often flown in schools and on their popular Experience Days.
The Falconry Centre was established in 1983 and is home to over 80 birds of prey. The centre’s collection includes various Eagles, Vultures, Hawks, Falcons, Kites and Owls. All of these birds are captive bred, but each year many injured wild birds of prey are brought to them, rehabilitated and returned to the wild.
The Falconry Centre is a visitor centre based just outside the village of Hagley, near Kidderminster (approximately 5 miles off Junction 3 or 4 of M5). The centre is open every day between 10am and 5pm with birds usually flown from 1pm each day. Birds you will see include: Golden Eagle, Bald Eagle, Barn Owl, Eagle Owl, Harris Hawk and Griffon Vulture.
Circus Skills Workshops
Jim will be working his magic at the Circus Skills workshops – join Jim in the main ring to learn how to spin and juggle. Jim will also be doing walkabouts around the show field.
We’re delighted that Rhythmicity are returning to the Show this year to hold their drumming workshops. These are terrific fun and it doesn’t matter how old you are or what your level of musical ability is, anyone can take part. Under the name Rhythmicity, Tim Scarborough has been running the workshops, leading performance teams and playing in bands for nearly 15 years. Using a friendly, professional approach he has built a strong reputation for delivering high quality, enjoyable workshops throughout the country. http://www.rhythmicity.co.uk/
Cleobury Country Archers will be at the Show, making their bows and arrows available for all you hotshots out there. The archery club was established to serve Cleobury Mortimer, South Shropshire and the surrounding area by a friendly and enthusiastic group of archers shooting various types of bow, but all with a passion for archery. http://www.cleoburyarcher.co.uk/
Heart of England Ferret Association is a group of like minded individuals who raise money for small animal organisations across the UK. We missed HEFA at last year’s show, and look forward to seeing them again at this year’s show.
We will be holding activities in the main ring aimed at providing fun for all family members. As well as the traditional races such as the egg and spoon and three legged races, we will be asking for volunteers to try out for the Hobby Horse Gymkhana. This new craze at national show jumping competitions is sweeping Scandinavia and caught the imagination of some locals at last year’s show. We’re hoping to be joined by last year’s winners to strut their stuff!
We will be inviting children, parents and grandparents to join the fun and games in the main ring for races and some suitably daft competitions!
